Bridge Problems

Since all of the main Droitwich U3A Bridge groups are now operating again, further publication of Bridge Problems (as detailed below) are now suspended.

The following are a series of Bridge problems that were posted during the Coronavirus pandemic when the Droiwich U3A Bridge groups were not able not meet and play face-to-face. The problems were published every two weeks, and each time comprised four (more or less) random deals. The initial questions (eg what to make as the opening bids) were posted on the Duplicate Bridge Club group’s normal day for playing (ie on Wednesday). On the following day the opening bid answers together with explanations were posted, and also posed the next questions (eg what to make as the re-bids). This process was continued of over the following days, concluding with looking at a plan for the play of the contract and finally the reveal of the full set of North-South and East-West hands (so that it is possible to work out what might actually happen in the play, and to look at the problems from the point of view of the defense, and try and work out their best line of play).

You can try out these problems for yourself (and follow the posts day-by-day) by starting with the following links to each of the initial two-weekly posts:

In anticipation that the Droitwich U3A Bridge groups will re-commence meeting again in August/September 2021, I will not be producing any more online Bridge problems.
